Earth holidays don't seem strange or foreign to me anymore. Last weekend was "Mother's Day", and celebrating it didn't seem weird at all-- it was normal, even though we didn't have anything like it in the Fire Nation.

You could make the argument that I've been here for too long, but I'm still not convinced it's a bad thing.

Mother's Day is basically what it seems, though. There's nothing really unsual there.

I guess my family's just sort of weird.

It is a nice chance to do something for my mom, since she lives sort of far away.

Mine is on another world right now. I'm glad I can worldhop.

So does my mom. She calls every day to check on me and to try to convince me to move to Orlando, marry some guy and start popping out babies.
I know it's really that she loves me, and doesn't like me being in "the big city where's there's muggers and crazies running around everywhere." She just misses me, I guess.

Mine is the same, except for the... babies part. She thinks I'm going to get hurt, and she doesn't like me being a soldier.

As long as what you fight for is good, she probably understands why you do what you do, even if she's worried for you.
At least, that's what I hope.

I suppose I can, too. But I can't just not fight.

That, too, I can understand very well. Sometimes you have to fight - or you wouldn't be you.

But she's protective and afraid I'll die, so I don't really blame her for not understanding that.

It's good that she loves you so much. I've seen enough people who don't have parents who don't love them.

And it's good that you love your mother as much as you do.
I should be better about that with my mom, honestly.

My old mother didn't, so I'm especially glad for it now.

I love my mother very much; we've just a had rough relationship since my dad disappeared.

We don't know where he went. My dad is/ was a pilot. When it happened, he was piloting a standard flight, but the plane never made it to it's destination and they never found a plane crash or anything.

I was adopted.

I almost found out something about my dad's fate when I was in the Underworld, but I had to help prevent a thousand years of fire from engulfing the earth. I'll have to look otherwise.

Her name is Lisa Cuddy; she's not on the community anymore.

What is the Underworld?

It's where deceased spirits go to be sorted and stuff. It looks like an office building.
