(no subject)

I'm still having less nightmares, but not yet none at all. They're still there, in the background, trying to get through. Last night I slept in my bed in the other room and accidentally left the sleep satchel in Lisa's bed, and they were back in full force.

Maybe they're never going to go away.

There's really a way to get rid of nightmares?

strikes = thoughts

Yeah, it sounds too good to be true...

But even if it could help keep them at bay most of the time, it would be enough for me. And Katniss, too.

I don't mean to be nosy or anything, but that sleep satchel you mentioned before... where did you get it?

[identity profile] tasty-tribute.livejournal.com 2010-11-17 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks. I really do appreciate your help. How much did you have to pay to get one of those?

[identity profile] tasty-tribute.livejournal.com 2010-11-18 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
Really? She just gave it to you for free?

[identity profile] tasty-tribute.livejournal.com 2010-11-18 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
That was awfully nice of her. Not many people are like that. I'll probably bake her some cookies or something, even if she doesn't ask for any money.

You bake cookies? You're a cook?

[identity profile] tasty-tribute.livejournal.com 2010-11-18 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
A baker, yes. My family owns the local bakery in District 12. I've been kneading dough since I was old enough to walk. Bread, cakes, cookies, pies... I can do it all. Frosted flowers are my specialty.

What's your favorite kind of bread? Or cake? Or whatever?

[identity profile] tasty-tribute.livejournal.com 2010-11-18 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
Well, because we have to toss out anything that doesn't get sold at the end of the day, and I'd rather just give it to someone who might like it...

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2010-11-18 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
... You want to give something to me? But you don't even know me.

[identity profile] tasty-tribute.livejournal.com 2010-11-18 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
I don't. But I think good food has a way of bringing people together, don't you?

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2010-11-18 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know. It's just food.

[identity profile] tasty-tribute.livejournal.com 2010-11-18 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe. But I put a lot of heart into what I do! If my bread and cakes can put a smile on someone's face, then all the hard work I put into baking it was well worth the effort. Food nourishes, but I think it should also be enjoyed, too.

[identity profile] tasty-tribute.livejournal.com 2010-11-18 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
Well, if it's all right with you, I could send you some of the leftovers from the shop today. Since you don't have a particular preference, I'll let you sample some of our more popular breads and cakes.

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2010-11-18 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
... All right.

I can give them to my mom, too.

[identity profile] tasty-tribute.livejournal.com 2010-11-18 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, by all means. I'd love it if you shared with your family. Like I said, good food has a way of bringing people together.

If you like tea, I've been working on making some tea cakes. They're not as popular as most of the breads, so I'm sure we'll have plenty to give out at the end of the day.

[identity profile] tasty-tribute.livejournal.com 2010-11-18 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
I do, too. Not everyday, of course. But it's a lot more than most people could afford around here, so we were lucky to even have the option of drinking it.

[identity profile] tasty-tribute.livejournal.com 2010-11-18 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe not for you, but for a lot of people in the Seam, it is. It's not uncommon to see people starving in the streets. That's why I make it a point not to waste even a single loaf of bread because I know there's someone out there who could really use it.
