...Wait, seriously? I didn't think he was that desperate.

I mean, uh, I thought he was still hung up over this other girl that he really liked and I sort of got killed but that's a long story. And anyway! It's not like you're interested so why get all worked up over me saying he must be desperate?

You implied that I have some fault that would make only desperate people interested in me.

Or it could be that people realise you're so far above them, that only some desperate idiot would try it on with you.

Not at all! I generally think most people are idiots and not worth wasting your time with, but they're at least pretty entertaining. Anyway, I've not really got much reason to think you're worse than some of the other kids.

Well, considering everyone else on the community, 'special' kind of seems to be the norm.

Toddlers can do "that thing with fire". What they can't do is do it better than most adults who have been training all their lives. They also can't bend lightning, which takes an enormous amount of skill and isn't even mastered by some experts.

That isn't including my governmental, intellectual, and strategic strengths, either.

I bet there's some other people who could say exactly that sort of thing. Just... without the fire and lightning, I guess.

And I'm pretty sure there's a load of military types about who're just as smart. But yeah, all right, very impressive.
