Hm. Paris is extremely lovely.

Interesting how they assume that everyone is familiar with this "baseball" game- though I suppose the person who wrote that wasn't taking any worlds other than their own into consideration. From the context, I'm assuming that this "getting to first base" idea is an important part of the game? Is it how you win?

Not that I'm really interested in the sport, of course; I suppose I'm just a bit curious.

OOC: ... I'm sorry. I saw that Writer's Block a couple of days ago and couldn't resist. :\

I'll give you a clue. It's a euphemism for kissing, princess.

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2008-10-24 05:30 pm (UTC)(link)
... No, it's referring to a sport called "baseball".

[identity profile] tiedbyfate.livejournal.com 2008-10-24 05:32 pm (UTC)(link)
No, not really. The terminology in the sport is used as a euphemism for sex, all the time, in juvenile discussions about teenage dating.

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2008-10-24 05:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Is baseball a sport typically played with your friends, then?

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2008-10-24 05:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I've been made aware of that. However, the question above is clearly referring to the sport.

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2008-10-24 05:35 pm (UTC)(link)
There are different kinds?

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2008-10-24 05:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Odd. I've only ever heard of one.

[identity profile] tiedbyfate.livejournal.com 2008-10-24 05:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, all right. If you're so curious about the game...

Getting to first base is only the first step. You have to get all the way around the bases back to home to get a point. It's a pretty difficult game to explain. It's easier to just watch it.

Another hint: In the juvenile parlance, getting to home base is having sex.

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2008-10-24 05:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, I see. Wouldn't they then put more emphasis on the importance of getting to "home" as opposed to first base?

... I wasn't asking for that information.

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2008-10-24 05:40 pm (UTC)(link)
... I'm not asking about the euphemism. Neither is the question above.

[identity profile] tiedbyfate.livejournal.com 2008-10-24 05:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe they're putting emphasis on getting to first base because it happens much more often.

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2008-10-24 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
But then it would deserve less emphasis, wouldn't it.

[identity profile] tiedbyfate.livejournal.com 2008-10-24 05:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, not really. If you look at the question, it's assuming that most people would have made it to first base at least once in their life, to make it a general question. While people who made it all the way home would be less common, and wouldn't be able to describe the 'first time' they did it.

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2008-10-24 05:43 pm (UTC)(link)
It clearly refers to the game.

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2008-10-24 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Hm. I suppose I can see the logic in that.

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2008-10-24 05:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I told you, I've never played the sport.

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2008-10-24 05:49 pm (UTC)(link)
... I realize that. I was giving you an out should you suddenly be struck by a momentary bout of intelligence.

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2008-10-24 05:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Did you honestly expect me to?

[identity profile] tiedbyfate.livejournal.com 2008-10-24 05:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Good.

It's a boring game, though. I don't recommend it. People here where I live are completely obsessed with it, too.

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2008-10-24 05:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I wasn't planning on playing.

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2008-10-24 05:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Why?

... I probably don't want to know what that one means.

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2008-10-24 05:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Why are you curious?

...

[identity profile] tiedbyfate.livejournal.com 2008-10-24 05:55 pm (UTC)(link)
That's nice to know.

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2008-10-24 05:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Such as?

Seeing as I don't know the meaning behind the metaphor, I don't know. However, I have a feeling my answer would be no.
